How do you enable macros in excel 2007?

I’m trying to open up a worksheet on excel that has macros in it. I clicked "enable" on the ribbon notification above but it still won’t work for me for some reason and I’m not sure why. Can someone please help me figure out what else I need to do? Thanks.

Since you are getting the alert below the ribbon at the top, I infer you have opened the workbook from an email attachment.

If so, you probably do not have macros enabled in Excel.

Go to File > Options and select ‘Trust Center’.

Click the ‘Trust Center Settings’ button.

Select ‘Macro Settings’ in the sub menus to the left.

Adjust the settings to your desired setting and make sure there is a check mark in the ‘Trust access to the VBA project object model’.

Click OK twice.

Note: you might also want to set the ActiveX Settings, also in the Trust Center Settings menus.

Garbo’s answer is spot on. Sometimes getting to the macro settings in that way can take a while though. If you are working with macros regularly. Click the Microsoft Office button, then click Excel Options and select the Popular tab in Excel options. Make sure you have the checkbox checked to display the Developer tab in the ribbon. Once the Developer tab is displayed, you can go to the Developer tab in the ribbon and click the Macro Settings button. If you’re working with Macros often this can eliminate several steps. It’s most important that you make sure that you have the checkbox checked to Trust Access to the project or something like that. If that doesn’t solve your problem, then change the security level for the macro. Most of the time the main problem is that the project isn’t trusted. So the checkbox has to be checked.
